The North American wood products industry is a world leader in sustainable forestry practices. Wood harvested from North American forests follows some of the world’s best forest management practices which have for decades provided net forest growth.

We are very proud of our environmental consciousness and are always excited at an opportunity to tell our “wood is good” story. Wood’s responsibility in the supply chain is to serve as a fundamental and sustainable part of moving goods from one point to another safely, quickly and efficiently. Wooden pallets and packaging truly do move the world, in a sustainable way.

And thanks to recycling efforts throughout our industry we can ensure that nearly every wood product we produce get’s re-used or recycled and thus avoids being sent to landfill. Wooden pallets in particular are a real environmental success story with over 95% of them being reused and/or recycled. Even more remarkable is that carbon sequestered in wood packaging products can act as an offset to other environmental activities.
